Obituary for Catherine Elizabeth Goodwin Unroe Catherine Elizabeth Goodwin Unroe
Homemaker Was Clifton Forge Native, First Christian Church Disciples of Christ Member

Catherine Elizabeth Goodwin Unroe, 91, of 804 Jefferson Ave., Clifton Forge, Virginia died Monday January 30, 2017 at the Brian Center Health and Rehab in Low Moor.

She was born in Clifton Forge, on September 1, 1925 a daughter of the late Clarence "Bud" and Blanche Lawhorne Goodwin.

She was a homemaker throughout her life, and a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Clifton Forge.

She was a loving mother and loved her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Toby Unroe in 1992, a son, Rodney Unroe; two brothers, Raymond Goodwin, Denny Goodwin, and a sister, Dorothy Goodwin.

She is survived by two daughters: Joanne Rowland and husband, Wendell and Cathy Cook and friend, Shannon Ware; three sons, W. Barry Unroe and wife, Carol, Timmy B. Unroe and wife, Debbie, all of Clifton Forge and Morgan T. Luck and wife, Adora of Mebane, NC; a daughter-in-law, Roxane T. Unroe of Clifton Forge; 13 grandchildren: Angela O'Neil, Crystal Downey, Santanna Unroe, Kristin Craig, Heidi Unroe, Daniel Unroe, Dusty Rowland, Tonya Wimmer, Christopher Unroe, Cody Cook, Travis Cook, Kelly Holmes, and Luke Luck; 21 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, with another one on the way, a number of nieces and nephews, including two special nieces and their husbands, Buddy and Jimmy Lacks, and Frieda and Allen Puckett.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday February 1, 2017 in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge with the Reverend Glenn Clements officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Advent Christian Cemetery in Clifton Forge. Active pallbearers will be Frank Tyree, Rick Pendleton, Christopher Unroe, Dusty Rowland, Travis Cook, Cody Cook, and Daniel Unroe.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
