Low Moor Native Dies At Age 96

Eleanor Sexton Elliott, 96, of Covington, Virginia went to be with our Lord, Thursday, February 23, 2017.

Eleanor affectionately known as "Maw", was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William W. Elliott; her sisters, Louise Adams, Margaret Mann; and her brother, Buddy Sexton.

She was born in Low Moor, Virginia on March 26, 1920.

Eleanor was a member of the Pines Garden Club and the Alleghany Historical Society.

She volunteered at the Arts & Crafts Center in Clifton Forge, Virginia and was an elder at First Presbyterian Church at one time.

She loved cooking, quilting and helping others.

Eleanor is survived by her children , Carol E. Grimmer (Dan) and Bill Elliott (Ellen); 4 grandchildren, Will Elliott (Dawn), Sarah Camara (Steven), Jason Grimmer and Rebecca Grimmer; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Ginn; and brother, Charles Sexton.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Jane Easter family and staff of In Home Adult Care of Amelia, VA. They gave Eleanor loving, compassionate care in her last year.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday Feb. 27, 2017, at Cedar Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Dr. Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
