John William Craft Jr., 85 of 205 Big Mountain Road, Covington, Virginia died Friday, March 3, 2017 at Lewis Gale Alleghany in Low Moor.

Mr. Craft was born May 26, 1931 in Alleghany County, the son of the late John W. Craft Sr. and Edith Bush Craft.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Eugene "Gene" Craft in 2015 and a daughter, Linda Renee Craft in 2013.

He was a retired letter carrier with the United States Postal Service.

A member of First Christian Church, John was an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosemary Wright Craft of Covington; a son, John Randall "Randy" Craft of Salem.

The funeral service will be held Thursday March 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland and Rev. Raymond Christian assisting.

Interment will be held in Alleghany Memorial Park with military rites by the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1033.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Craft's name to First Christian Church at 231 E. Fudge St. Covington, VA 24426 or Cliffdale Christian Church at 4605 Upper Rich Patch Road, Covington, VA 24426.
