Farmville Native Was Substance Abuse Counselor

Mrs. Patricia Diane Seay Young, age 61, of Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor.

She was the wife of Thomas Ronald Young.

Mrs. Young was born December 7, 1955 in Farmville, the daughter of the late Thomas Robert Seay and Mae R. Seay.

Patricia earned an Associate's Degree in Human Service Technology in 1986 from Virginia Community College, a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Lynchburg College in 1989 and a Master's Degree in Education, Specialist in Agency and College Counseling from Longwood University in 1993.

A member of this community since 2012, she was employed as a substance abuse counselor with Riverstone Mental Health Substance Abuse Clinic.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Young is survived by a son, Robert Adcock of Appomattox; four daughters, Melissa Bradley and husband, Greg of Appomattox, Susan Schilling and husband, John of Clifton Forge, Tricia Young of Roanoke and Winnie Wagner and husband, Rick of Gary, NC; seven grandchildren, Jessica Shumaker, Amanda Newman, Zach Shumaker, Shauna Hill, Aryn Wagner, Angela Schilling and Emma Schilling; three great grandchildren, Allysa Hill, Cameron Hill and T.J. Hill; two brothers, Cleve Elliot and wife, Pat of Appomattox and Tony Seay of Clifton Forge; a sister, Dale Bryant of Appomattox; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Young was preceded in death by a brother, George Glenn.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Central United Methodist Church, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Lynn Wright officiating.
