Obituary for Gary Grant Clendenin, Sr. Gary Grant Clendenin, Sr.
Retired Painter, Carpenter Was West Virginia Native

Gary Grant Clendenin, Sr., 70, of 117 Iron Ore Land, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Woodlands Health and Rehab in Clifton Forge.

He was born August 13, 1946 in Randolph County, West Virginia, a son of the late Floyd Leo and Winona Mae Hackert Clendenin.

He was a retired painter and carpenter and enjoyed wood carving.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Opal Clendenin, and a sister, Eliouse Jean Clendenin.

He is survived by a son, Gary G. Clendenin, Jr., of North Carolina; three sisters: special sister, Joyce "Sissy" Conner and her husband, Hunter, of Clifton Forge, Sue Garner, of Lewisburg, WVA, Jenny Perry, of Fairlea, WVA, five brothers; Charles "Chuck" Clendenin, Bobby Clendenin, and Billy Clendenin, all of White Sulphur Springs, WVA; Roger Clendenin and his wife, Joyce, of Caldwell, WVA, Allen Clendenin and his wife, Bonnie, of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, and a number on nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Sharon Baptist Church with the Reverend Virgil Woodie and Reverend Peter Cardinal officiating. Interment will be private.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center, 1000 Fairview Ave, Clifton Forge, Virginia 24422.
