Union Church Millworks Mill Manager Dies At Age 59

Lacy Nelson Broughman III, age 59, of 5005 Forty-two Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.

He was born January 25, 1958 in Clifton Forge to the late Lacy Nelson Broughman, Jr. and Atley Gray Thurston Broughman.

Lacy was the Mill Manager for Union Church Millworks, Inc. in Selma, and helped build the Family Life Center at Lone Star Advent Christian Church, where he was a member.

He was very active with installation and maintenance of area baseball fields, and enjoyed woodworking and farming.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, but also loved everyone he knew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Melissa Broughman and Susan B. Yopp; and a brother, Melvin Broughman.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Van Lear Broughman of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Afton Nicely and husband, Lucas of Clifton Forge; a son, Lacy Nelson Broughman IV and his fiancee, Emily Rosage of Jacksonville, NC; a brother, George A. Broughman and wife, Kathy of Clifton Forge; two grandchildren, Tanner and Mackenzie; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lone Star Advent Christian Family Life Center with Reverend Doug Moore and Mr. George Broughman officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Lone Star Family Life Center Building Fund, 4704 Nicelytown Road, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
