Former Covington Resident Dies At Age 82

Mrs. Ada Louise Arrington Taylor, age 82, of Madison Heights, Virginia, formerly of Covington, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at her residence.

She was the wife of the late Glenn Harlis Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was born September 24, 1934 in Covington, the daughter of the late Robert Jackson Arrington and Millie Helmintoller Arrington.

She was a graduate of Covington High School class of 1952.

Ada was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan as well as an avid NASCAR fan and her favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Sr.

Most of all, she loved her family and friends.

Mrs. Taylor was a lifetime member of Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her daughter, Becky Taylor Shepard of Roanoke; grandson, Gregory Glenn Shepard and wife, Kimberly, of Waynesboro; her cats, Big Boy and Little Girl; best friend, Lois Ault; and caregiver, Judi Johns.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Evelyn Mitchell officiating. All friends wishing to attend the service should assemble at Loving Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m.

Pallbearers will be John Helmintoller, Ronnie Helmintoller, Butch Windle, Greg Shepard, Greg Bartley, J.D Vess, Roger May, and Pat Loving.

The family suggests that memorial donations take the form of contributions to Centra Hospice 2097 Langhorne Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501 and the Alleghany Humane Society P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457.
