Margaret Irene Woods Gwinn, 68, of Newport News, Virginia, died Monday, April 3, 2017 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News.

She was born March 19, 1949 in New Castle, Virginia, the daughter of the late Albert Garfield Woods and Virginia Rose Smith Woods.

She was married to the late Thomas Earl Gwinn, her husband of 45 years, who preceded her in death on April 28, 2015.

Mrs. Gwinn was a housewife, a loving mother, grandmother and sister.

She faithfully served her Lord at Northside Baptist Church.

She is survived by four children: Thomas Gwinn and wife, Randi of Seattle, Washington, Lewis Gwinn and wife, Dawn of DeCapalus, Indiana, Billy Gwinn and wife, Amanda of Chilhowie, Virginia, and Teresa Gwinn of Newport News; ten grandchildren; two brothers, James Albert Woods and wife, Linda and Thomas Lee Woods and wife, Janet; a sister, Virginia Katherine McCormick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Paxton's Chapel in New Castle, Virginia with Pastor Billy Gwinn officiating.

The McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home in Hot Springs is handling the arrangements.
