Covington Native Dies At Age 94

Mrs. Virginia Anne Dale Hayslett, age 94, of Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the Brian Center – Alleghany, Low Moor.

She was the wife of the late James William Hayslett.

Mrs. Hayslett was born December 27, 1922 in Covington, the daughter of the late Harvey Addison Dale and Loraine King Dale.

She was a homemaker.

Virginia was a member of Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church, where she taught children's Sunday school and was a former member of Circle #1 and Circle #2.

Mrs. Hayslett is survived by two sons, James E. Hayslett and wife, Betty of Covington and Richard D. Hayslett and wife, June of Covington; one granddaughter, Kathy Hayslett- Hedgepeth and husband, Joe, of Hopewell; two grandsons, Blair M. Hayslett of Blacksburg and Brad E. Hayslett and wife, Molly of Roanoke; one great granddaughter, Abigail R. Hayslett; two great grandsons, Nathanial H. Hayslett and Evan B. Hayslett.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hayslett was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Dale, Jr. and two sisters, Agnes Dale (infant) and Joyce Fox.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Hoke Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brad Hayslett, Blair Hayslett, Nathanial Hayslett, Danny Eggleston, Ricky Morris and Steve Southall. Honorary pallbearer will be Harold Morgan.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 11:30 a.m. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church, 205 Fletcher Chapel Road, Covington, VA 24426.
