Louis Edward Smith, 83, of Eagle Rock, Virginia, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Nelva Smith; and a grandson, James Louis Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Nicely Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Clay Coleman of Fincastle; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Lisa Smith of Salem, James "Peanut" and Laura Smith of Buchanan; grandchildren, Amy Coleman, Chandler Smith, Garrett and Hannah McMillan; siblings and spouses, Betty Johnson, Cecil and Pearl Smith, Patsy and Butch Neal, Billy Smith, and Roy and Kathy Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Woody and the Rev. Robert McRae officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel UMC Cemetery on US220 North.
