Obituary for Clem Loid Irvine, Jr. Clem Loid Irvine, Jr.
Retired Brakeman Was Central Advent Christian Church Member

Clem Loid Irvine, Jr., 87, of 1506 Richmond Street, Selma, Virginia, died Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center in Clifton Forge.

He was born June 20, 1929 in Clifton Forge, a son of the late Clem Loid and Clara Belle Vest Irvine.

He was a member of the Central Advent Christian Church, and a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War.

He was also a retired brakeman for the C&O Railroad and CSX Transportation.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Tyree Irvine; two daughters, Judy A. Goodbar and husband, Bernard of Collierstown, Tracie Smith and husband, Todd of Selma; a sister, Patsy Craft of Clifton Forge; four grandchildren: Darren Goodbar and wife, Debbie, Cathy Goodbar, Zachary Smith and wife, Jazz, Jarrett Smith; three great grandchildren: Evelynn Smith, Quentin and Lilia Goodbar, and two nieces.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday May 9, at the Central Advent Christian Cemetery in Clifton Forge with the Reverend Gene Ayers officiating. Interment will immediately follow.

There is no formal visitation scheduled, however following the service, the family will have a time of fellowship at the Central Advent Christian Church.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements.
