U. S. Army Veteran Was Self-Employed Carpenter, Very Active In His Community

Glenn Charles Williams, 80, of Millboro, Virginia, died Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Millboro, Virginia. He was born March 10, 1937 in Millboro, Virginia, the son of the late Glenn Crawford Williams and Florence "Mickey" Miles Williams.

Mr. Williams was retired as a self-employed carpenter and was a veteran of the U. S Army.

He was a member of Windy Cove Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and an avid outdoorsman. He loved golf, was a Boy Scoutmaster for many years, and a little league coach for baseball and basketball.

He served on the Bath County School Board for 13 years, working for our children and community. Mr. Williams loved fishing with his family.

He graduated from Valley High School and attended Virginia Tech in the Corps of Cadets.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Lindsay Williams of 58 years; his children, Glenn Reid Williams of Portsmouth, Virginia, Neal Edward Williams and wife, Rosemary of Chesapeake, Virginia; Tracy Richard Williams of Millboro, Virginia, daughter-in-law, Danielle Williams of Millboro, Virginia; four grandchildren, Roshelle Williams Beck and husband, Chris, Chase Forrest Williams, Loren River Williams, Logan Sky Williams; two great grandchildren, Cole and Remy Beck; two brothers, Dennis Edward Williams and wife, Charlotte of North Dallas, TX and Wayne Forrest Williams and wife, Susan of Millboro, Virginia. He was preceded in death by a son, Cory Wayne Williams in 2013.

A funeral service will be conducted at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Sherrod officiating. Interment will be in Windy Cove Presbyterian Church cemetery, Millboro, Virginia.

The family will receive friends Monday evening May 8, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.
