Obituary for William Stuart (Bill) Swisher William Stuart (Bill) Swisher
National Guard Veteran Retired From Smith's Transfer, Rockbridge Regional Jail

William Stuart (Bill) Swisher, 79, of Lexington, Virginia, surrounded by family, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, May 7, 2017.

He was the oldest son of the late R. K. Swisher Sr. and Katherine Straub Swisher.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Judith Ayres Swisher, and grandson, Tyler Stuart Swisher.

Bill graduated from Lexington High School and served in the Unites States National Guard. He retired from Smith's Transfer and the Rockbridge Regional Jail.

Bill was a kind, gentle, and compassionate soul always wanting to help others. He loved his family, hunting, fishing, farming, and especially his garden.

Bill is survived by his son David and Sheryl Swisher; a daughter, Penni Swisher; a grandson, Hunter Smith; four brothers, Reid and Betty Swisher, Fred and Linda Swisher, Coray and Teresa Swisher, Keith and Cathy Swisher; brother-in-law, Ronnie and Becky Ayres; and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff and residents at The Legacy at North Augusta and Kings Daughters.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Al Fogleman officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in loving memory of Bill to a charity of your choice.
