Obituary for Thomas Lee (Tommy) (Buck) Sampson Thomas Lee (Tommy) (Buck) Sampson
U. S. Air Force Veteran Was CSX Retiree

Thomas Lee (Tommy) (Buck) Sampson, age 63, of 957 Ingalls Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany, Low Moor.

He was born August 16, 1953 in Clifton Forge to the late Thomas Nelson and Margaret Byrd Sampson.

He served in the United States Air Force and retired January 22, 2014 from CSX Transportation.

May 16 was a significant date for Tommy, because it was the day he started working for the railroad as well as the day he died.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Stewart Sampson; a son, Mitchell Taylor Sampson; their animals that he was devoted to, Pippa, Priya, and Peaches; his mother-in-law, Leatha V. Stewart; four cousins, Charles Perry and wife, Diane, Donna Leary, Charmain Leary, and Carmen Holloway and husband, Victor; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Curtis Stewart and wife, Priscilla, Carolyn Palmer and husband, Pete, Reverend Rosetta Stewart, Leonard Stewart and wife, Leah, James Stewart and wife, Eleanor, Darlene Stewart, Cora S. Poteat and husband, James, Thomas L. Dickerson, and Melinda Stewart; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge with Reverend Roslyn Thomas officiating and Reverend Rosetta Stewart delivering the eulogy. A private inurnment will follow.

The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 12:00 noon until the time of service at the church and other times at the residence.

The Nicely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
