U. S. Navy Veteran Was Warehouse Foreman For A. M. E. C. Corporation

Michael Lawrence (Mike) McKinney, age 73, of 3508 Douthat Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor.

He was born August 27, 1943 in El Dorado, Kansas, to the late Lawrence George McKinney and Rose Guida Anderson McKinney.

He served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Randolph and was a warehouse foreman for the A.M.E.C Corporation.

He attended St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Brewton, Alabama, and was a loving partner, father, grandfather, and friend.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, William Patrick McKinney.

He is survived by his partner, Charlotte Sargent Ivy of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Elizabeth McKinney and Emily McKinney, both of Oregon; two nieces, Kimberly Kathryn Trusiak and Shawnie Rose Zink; a nephew, Todd Lawrence McKinney; a granddaughter, Zadine McKinney; and four great nieces, and five great nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body will be cremated. A celebration of Life service will be conducted at a later date.

The Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge is handling the arrangements.
