Hot Springs Resident Dies At Age 30

Michael Elaine Plecker, 30, of Hot Springs, Virginia, died Friday, June 2, 2017 at Bath Community Hospital.

She was born March 4, 1987 in Roanoke, Virginia, the daughter of Michael Warren Plecker, who preceded her in death in 1989, and Stephanie Elaine Plecker Yarborough.

Michael was a member of Ashwood United Methodist Church, a 2006 graduate of Bath County High School and the homecoming queen, and a loving daughter, sister, and aunt.

She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She enjoyed movies, swimming, four-wheeling, camping in the outdoors, and just being out and about.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Hayne Brooks, Jr.; a brother: Cole Ashton Plecker of Hot Springs; grandfather, Richard Thacker, Sr. of Hot Springs; grandmother, Sonya Yarborough of Greenville, South Carolina; three aunts: Pamela Thacker of Hot Springs, Tracy Haltiwanger and Rochelle Conits, both of Greenville, South Carolina; three uncles: Richard Thacker, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland, Stevie Plecker of Swoope, Virginia, and Wayne Pritt of Goshen; a nephew, Noel Ashton Plecker; and several cousins.

In addition to her father, Michael was preceded in death by her grandmother, Anna Mae Thacker and her grandfather, Hayne Brooks Yarborough, Sr., and an uncle, Donnie Robertson.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2017 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.
