Longtime Mallow Presbyterian Church Member Dies At Age 70

Gloria Morse (Kitten) Persinger, 70, of 527 East Mallow Road, Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at her home.

Mrs. Persinger was born May 16, 1947, in Norfolk a daughter of the late Vernon Lee and Edna Donald Morse.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wade Morse.

Kitten was a longtime member of Mallow Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and member of the Women's Circle. She was also active with the League of Older Americans. She loved camping with her family, art and going to NASCAR races.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Melvin D. Persinger of Covington; three asons, Melvin R. Persinger of Covington, Mark D. Persinger and his wife, Traci of Eagle Rock and Michael B. Persinger and his wife, Tammy of Buena Vista; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Richie Caruthers of Covington; seven grandchildren, Dylan Persinger, Cristi Persinger, Cameron Persinger Corey Persinger, Chloe Persinger, Alex Caruthers and Claudia Caruthers; one great grandson, Ian Scott Persinger; three disters, Sylvia Timmons, Sandra Morse, and Rose Lawson; one brother, Donnie Morse, and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Mallow Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating.

Following the service the family will receive friends at the church or at home at any time.

The family suggests that donations in Kitten's name be made to Mallow Presbyterian Church.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is handling the arrangements.
