Obituary for Sarah Lorraine Hibbitts Nunley Sarah Lorraine Hibbitts Nunley
Co-Owned Gala Grocery For Over 25 Years

Sarah Lorraine Hibbitts Nunley, 88, of Eagle Rock, Virginia, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017.

She was born January 7, 1929 in Elliston, Virginia.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Hattie and John Hibbitts.

Along with her husband, she co-owned Gala Grocery for over 25 years.

She loved being outside, gardening, and birdwatching from her porch.

She was devoted to her family and grandchildren and she will forever hold a special place in all of their hearts.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Frank E. Nunley, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Randy DePriest of Eagle Rock; sister-in-law, Betty Lou (Paul) Snapp of Roanoke; grandchildren, Justin (Missy) Barnes, Forrest (Mary Kate) DePriest, Lorie (Billy) Jamerson, and Amanda Depriest; great-grandchildren, Grace and Elise Barnes, Garrett, Reese, Cassidy, and Raegan DePriest, Cody Snead, Ella Wilborne, Vivian Jamerson, Alley and Chance Taylor; special personal friend, Edith Dudley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Eagle Rock United Methodist Church at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 15, 2017 with Rev, Ray D. Sandifer and Rev. Robert McRae officiating.

Following a meal at the church, there will be a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. The damily will receive friends in the Eagle Rock Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14777 Church Street Eagle Rock Va (540-884-2276) on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 5-8 p.m.
