Obituary for Teddy Woodrow Martin Teddy Woodrow Martin
U. S. Army World War II Veteran Was Retired Alleghany Gas Company Service Representative

Teddy Woodrow Martin, age 98, of 800 W. Ridgeway Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Veteran_s Care Center in Roanoke.

He was born in Monroe, West Virginia on March 5, 1919, a son of the late Clarence and Leli Brackett Martin.

He was a retired service representative for Alleghany Gas Company, a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II, and a member of the Curtis A. Smith VFW Post 1033 in Covington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth B. "Betty" Martin in 1974; five brothers, Harry "Dee" Martin, Clarence Ray Martin, James Mark Martin, John William Martin, and Paul Fred Martin; and four sisters, Claudine Sadd, Mary Kessinger, Ruth Martin, and Nell Fisher.

He is survived by a sister, Bethel Pyle of Covington; a number of nieces and nephews; his devoted caregiver, Velma Craft; and his special friends and Pastors, Ken Goodmiller and Danny Lawhorn.

His family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center in Clifton Forge, and the Veteran's Care Center in Roanoke for his excellent care.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington, with Reverend Ken Goodmiller officiating. Interment will immediately follow.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in his memory to the Curtis A. Smith VFW Post 1033, 710 Dolly Ann Dr., Covington, VA 24426, or a charity of your choice.
