Alleghany County Native Was Persinger Memorial United Methodist Church Member

Mrs. Violet Leona Tucker Lee, age 96, of Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Woodlands Nursing Home, Clifton Forge.

She was the wife of the late Russell William Lee. Mrs. Lee was born June 27, 1921 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Charles Isaac Tucker and Callie Hosey Tucker.

A lifetime resident of this area, she was a wonderful caregiver to many in the community over the years.

Violet was a member of Persinger Memorial United Methodist Church.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with them.

Mrs. Lee is survived by two daughters, Catherine Lee Rose and husband, Jimmy, of Covington and Wanda Lee Martin and husband, Norman of Covington; two sons, Eric D. Lee, of Covington and Jack W. Lee, of Buchanan; a daughter-in-law, Geraldine B. Lee; seven grandchildren, Connie Richards, Heather Mann, Scott Lee, Tonya McPeek, Stephanie Richardson, Pam Chumbley and Kimberly Walker; and twelve great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by a son, William "Billy" Lee and a sister, Lillian Catherine Tucker.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Virgil Woodie officiating. Interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Walker, Patrick McPeek, Jack Mann, Nicholas Mann, Danny Lawhorn, and Wayne Caldwell.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home and at the other times, at the residence of Wanda and Norman Martin, 3073 S. Wildwood Drive, Covington.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Woodlands Patient Activity Fund, 1000 Fairview Avenue, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
