Obituary for Keith Delano Swisher Keith Delano Swisher
U. S. Army Veteran Served In France; Was Longtime Livestock Marketer

Keith Delano Swisher died Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at his home in Fairfield, Virginia.

Born Jan. 24, 1934, he was the third son of the late Otho Maynard and Marie Davis Swisher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Sidney Oliver.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Thelma Hockman Swisher; two sons, Keven Parker Swisher and wife, Teresa, and Terry Rydell Swisher and wife, Deborah; one grandson, Tyler Hart Swisher; and three granddaughters, Morgan Renee Swisher, Karlie Jo Swisher and Alexandra Leigh Swisher; one brother, Jerry Swisher Sr.; and two sisters, Barbara Trandel and Eugenia Hockman.

Keith served two years in the U. S. Army, serving most of his time in France.

He raised cattle on his farm in the Fairfield area. He and his brother formed a partnership early in their lives, buying and selling livestock in Virginia and adjoining states. Additionally, Keith spent more than 50 years clerking livestock markets throughout the state, with a majority of time spent at the Staunton Union Stock Yard.

He was an active member of New Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Fairfield.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Harrison Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 23, at Harrison Funeral Home with internment following at New Mt. Olive Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Price will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you make a contribution in Keith's memory to either the Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington, VA 24450 or New Mt. Olive Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 216, Fairfield, VA 24435.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
