Thomas Maceo Sloan, Jr., 69, of Lexington, Virginia, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at his home.

He was born January 31, 1948, in Henderson, North Carolina, a son of Alice Virginia Watts Sloan and the late Thomas Maceo Sloan, Sr.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one son, Lewis Alexander.

Mr. Sloan was a member of the First Baptist Church, and served his country in the United States Army.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren, attended drag races, and was a bartender for over 25 years.

In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife of 31 years, Gwen Poindexter Sloan; one son, Thomas M. Sloan III; one sister, Java Ann Fields; two grandsons, two granddaughters and three great-granddaughters.

A memorial service will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Earl Pendleton. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
