Obituary for Pamela Bennington McCormack Pamela Bennington McCormack
Longtime Covington School System Teacher Dies At Age 62

Pamela Bennington McCormack, of 1427 S. Carolton Drive, Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday August 9, 2017 at her residence.

She was born June 23, 1955 in Waynesboro, the daughter of the late Raymond K. and Ruth Jean Kent Bennington.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bill McCormack and a sister-in-law, Gwen Lindsey.

Pam was member of the last graduating class of Madison College in Harrsionburg, now known as JMU. She was teacher for 27 years, retiring in 2014 from City of Covington School System.

Pam was an active member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Adult Choir, the Circle of the Church and the Outreach Program.

Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Bobby McCormack of Covington; her daughter and son-in-law, Megan and James Rivero of Richmond; her son and daughter in-law, Ryan and Sarah McCormack of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Addison and Kellan; one brother and sister–in-law, Tim Bennington and his wife, Barbara of Covington; sister and brother in law, Kathy Bennington Byers and her husband, Jody of Covington; two brothers–in-law, David McCormack and his wife, Karlee of Troutville and Steve McCormack of Covington; sister–in-law, Carolyn Hinkle of Covington; brother-in-law, Bob Lindsey of Roanoke and a sister-in-law, Julie McCormack.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2017 in the Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russell Urban officiating.

The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive their friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home.

Memorial donations in pam’s name may be made to Education Scholarship Fund, Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church, 425 W. Main Street, Covington, VA 24426.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
