Obituary for Anna Schulz Koehnke Anna Schulz Koehnke
Native Of Germany Was Former School Assistant Administrator, Day Care Center Operator

Anna Schulz Koehnke, 90, of Covington, Virginia, and formerly of Moriah Center, NY, passed away Tuesday August 15, 2017 at the Brian Center in Low Moor.

She was born September 19, 1926 in Cuxhaven, Germany, a daughter of the late Julius Hinrich Amandus Schulz and Anna Christina Mahler Schulz.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Peter Koehnke; a sister, Matilde Schoel and a brother, Werner Schulz.

Mrs. Koehnke immigrated from Germany after World War II. She was a former Assistant Administrator at the Montessor School in Annadale, VA.

Mrs. Koehnke was a member of Mt. Moriah Presbyterian Church Port Henry, NY. For a number of years she operated a day care center from her home.

Surviving are her three daughters and sons-in-law, Anna Christina and Robert Bruce of Crown Point, NY; Heide and Leo Mulcahy and Susanne and Nelson Clark, all of Covington; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Ilse Muhlenbruch of Hanover, Germany and Martha Hammack of Lake Wales, FL and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family suggests that memorial donations in Mrs. Koehnke's name may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, JDRF, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor New York, NY 10004.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is handlinng the arrangements.
