Obituary for Dorothy (Dot) Lee Sampson Ervine Dorothy (Dot) Lee Sampson Ervine
Green Bank Resident Was Frank Nazarene Church Member

Dorothy (Dot) Lee Sampson Ervine, 88, of Green Bank, WV, slipped peacefully into eternity on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the Pocahontas Continuous Care Center. She had been in declining heath.

Born on December 26, 1928 in Huntersville, WV, she was a daughter of the late Flosten and Jessie Fowler Sampson.

On September 26, 1945, she married Guy Newton Ervine, who preceded her in death on April 12, 2002.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladie Gum and Marybelle Meadows.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane E. Hoover and husband, Dewey of Green Bank; one special grandson, Dan Hoover of Green Bank; one sister, Linda Key of Summersville; one brother ,Thurman Sampson and wife, Barbara of Baltimore, MD; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Janie Wilfong of Marlinton, and a special toddler friend, Sierra Cassell of Arbovale.

Mrs. Ervine retired from the United States Postal Service in 1989 following 30 dedicated years as a clerk.

She was a strong-willed, kind-hearted generous, and witty spirited lady. She delighted keeping in touch with family and friends through letter writing and sending encouraging cards. She and Guy immensely enjoyed attending gospel sings and taking Sunday scenic drives. She attended the Frank Nazarene Church.

As per Dot's request, a graveside service will be honored. It will be conducted in the Arbovale Cemetery on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Gary Reynolds will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will follow graveside services at the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Chapel in Arbovale.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frank Church of the Nazarene 5509 Staunton Parkersburg Turnpike, Bartow, WV 24920-8026 or to a charity of your choice.
