Obituary for David Lawrence Neal David Lawrence Neal
Iron Gate Resident Was U. S. Army, Virginia National Guard Veteran

David Lawrence Neal, age 79, of 800 Eighth Street, Iron Gate, Virginia, died Monday, August 21, 2017 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

He was born March 15, 1938 in Millboro, to the late Glenn Forest Neal and Mary Ethel Windsor Neal Humphries.

He was of the Baptist faith and served in the United States Army and the Virginia National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Allen Neal; four brothers, James Neal, Harry Neal, Donald Neal, and Kenneth Neal; and two sisters, Lillie Matheney and Mary Lee Cale.

He is survived by a daughter, Tammy Thorne of Lexington; two sons, Richard Dale Neal and Robert Preston Neal, both of Clifton Forge; a sister, Pamela Frazier of Botetourt County; six grandchildren, James David Neal, Loretta Markham, Tabitha Bogar, Paul Nicely, Preston Neal, and Robert Neal, Jr.; five great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Millboro Christian Church Cemetery, Millboro, with the Reverend Victor Nicely officiating. Interment will immediately follow. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
