Mr. Gary Wayne Smith, age 54, of Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at his residence.

He was the husband of Mary Margaret Frye Smith.

Mr. Smith was born December 24, 1962 in Covington, the son of Frances Mae Holcomb Smith and the late James Lewis Smith.

A lifetime resident of this community, he was employed as member of the Food Services staff by the Homestead.

Gary was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, Frances Smith and Bill Smith, and his wife, Mary Margaret Smith, Mr. Smith is survived by his step-children, Ronnie Keyser and wife, Donna of Covington and Beverly Jones and husband, David of Staunton; three brothers, William L. "Willie" Smith and wife, Jeannie, Delbert Lee Smith and Dickie Ray Smith and wife, Missy, all of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Nicely officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Smith, Daniel Brown, Keith Brown, Dickie Smith, Jr., Andrew Smith and Ronnie Keyser.

The family will receive friends Friday morning from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
