John Layman Curry, Jr., 82, of Florence, New Jersey, died Thursday, August 17, 2017 at his home.

He was born August 23, 1934 in Mountain Grove, Virginia, the son of the late John Layman Curry, Sr. and Mary Rexrode Curry.

John was a retired Major in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his niece, Carolyn Hefner of Lost River, West Virginia, and nephew, Donnie Huggins of Waynesboro, Virginia.

John was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Frances Townsend and Lois Jean Jennings.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017 at Mountain Grove Cemetery with Rev. Dick Boyer officiating.

The McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home, Hot Springs, is in charge of arrangements.
