Obituary for Frank David Thompson Frank David Thompson
Millboro Resident Was Richmond Native

Frank David Thompson, 73, of 16120 Indian Draft Road in Millboro, Virginia, died Monday, August 28, 2017 in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.

Mr. Thompson was born June 10, 1944 in Richmond, a son of the late Olen M. Thompson, Sr. and Thelma Graham Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Olen Thompson, Jr. and three sisters, Kathern Gillime, Sally Clinbell and Mary Graham.

He retired from Pro Tech as a mechanic.

He was an active bluegrass musician since the age of 10.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Rachel Robertson Thompson of Millboro; four daughters, Dottie Thompson and Arlan Bates, Jr. , and Mila and David Huffman, all of Covington; Tammy Tucker and Johnny Angle of Iron Gate and Crystal Thompson and Chad Wheeler of Craigsville; four grandchildren, James Switzer, Milton Switzer, Kristina Via and Lucas Via; three great grandchildren, Bentley Thompson, Kyleigh Via and Chad Wheeler, III; one brother, Van Thompson of Millboro; two sisters, Thelma Haynes and husband, Mark, and Virginia Biggs and her husband, Timmy, all of Covington; and several nieces and nephews and his musician friends.

The funeral service will be held Saturday September 2, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Walter Davis officiating.

The family will receive friends for one hour before the service time on Saturday at Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia.
