Obituary for James Marshall Wright James Marshall Wright
U. S. Army Korean War Veteran Was Alleghany County Native

James Marshall Wright, 89 of Moss Run, Covington, Virginia, entered the gates of heaven September 26, 2017 with his immediate family at his bedside.

Mr. Wright was born May 19, 1928 in Alleghany County, the son of the Late Dolphus and Nannie Belle Wright.

There were nine siblings in Mr. Wright's family. Preceding him in death were brothers, Walter Wright, Donald Wright, Daniel Wright, and Russell Wilson, Sisters Jewell Tingler and Lucille Givens and sister-in-law, Velda Farmer.

He retired from Hercules after 28 years of service.

Mr. Wright was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War.

He was a faithful member of Grace Brethren Church.

James was married to the late Bessie Campbell Wright for 62 years until her passing in 2011.

He is survived by three children: Rev. J. Lynn Wright and wife, Michele of Valley Ridge, Cathy W. Kruse and husband, Steve of Waverly, and Kevin E. Wright and wife, Tammy of Clifton Forge.

He rejoiced in the lives of four grandchildren: D. Jarret Wright and wife, Ashley, Sandi Kruse Fulp and Justin LeBlanc, Tiffany K. Turner and husband, Cory, and Michael Kruse and wife, Jackie. Also left to cherish the memory of their pops are twelve great grandchildren: Reagan Wright, Elizabeth Barfield, Timmy Barfield and Dylan Barfield, Trevor Turner, Kira Turner, Forrest Fulp, Justin LeBlanc, Mikey LeBlanc, Alexus LeBlanc, Isaak LeBlanc and Cora Kruse.

There are two surviving sisters, Rosetta Schumaker and Rachel McMullen of the Richmond Area. Surviving nephews and a niece, who were very dear to him, are Garland Campbell and wife, Carole of Moss Run, Berlin Campbell and wif,e Linda of Georgia, and Patricia Armentrout of Staunton; plus a number of nieces and nephews.

The celebration of his life service will be held Friday September 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Price officiating.

The interment will follow at Fletcher Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at Arritt Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Mr. Wright's name to Grace Brethren Church, 2507 S. Carpenter Dr., Covington, VA 24426 or Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.

The family would like to express its sincere appreciation to the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center and Mountain Regional Hospice for their loving care during a small part of his extended illness.
