Lexington Baptist Church Member Dies At Age 84

Vivian Whiteside Nicely, 84, of Lexington, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was an avid baker and loved to cook and prepare meals and desserts for family and friends.

Vivian was a constant companion to her husband, Reese, and together they enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and watching their grandchildren play sports.

She was born on March 7, 1933 to William D. Whiteside and Beulah Cash Whiteside.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley Whiteside Fitzgerald (Herman Lee Fitzgerald).

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Howard Reese Nicely; sons, Howard (Renada) and Wayne (Tamala); grandchildren Cheyenne, Dakota (Katie), Cimarron, Mackenzie, and Taylor; and special family friend, Robert (Bum) Baker (Cindy).

She is also survived by brother, George Edward Whiteside (Edie); sisters, Jean Whiteside Edwards (Harold); Charlene Whiteside Falls (Lewis); Dorothy Ann Whiteside; Emily Whiteside Nuckols (Richard); Phyllis Whiteside Staton (Roy), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Vivian was also a long time member of Lexington Baptist Church.

A service celebrating her life will be held at Lexington Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, with the Rev Michael Saunders officiating. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to her service In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to Lexington Baptist Church and Lexington Lifesaving and First Aid, 708 S. Main St., Lexington VA, 24450.
