Jeffrey Dale (JD) Smith, 48, passed away at his residence in Buena Vista, Virginia, on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017.

He was born on May 22, 1969 in Lexington.

Jeffrey was a graduate of Parry McCluer High School and a longtime employee of Dana Corp.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father, Harry T. Smith; stepfather, Andy "Poppy" Nuckols; his paternal grandparents, John and Evelyn Smith; and his maternal grandparents, Otis and "Jenny" Graybill.

Left behind to cherish his memory are Jeffrey's loving mother, Linda (Graybill) Smith-Nuckols; three special aunts, Evelyn, Kathy and Sonya; one uncle, Roger; and numerous cousins. He is also survived by Jonas Stone Moyers, always known as Jeffrey's "little brother," and a very special family pet, Oreo.

There will be no services for Jeffrey at this time.
