Retired Furniture Upholsterer Was Church Of Christ Of Covington Member

Leonidas Franklin (Lonny) Payne, Jr., age 80, of 9576 Deerfield Road, Millboro, Virginia, and formerly of Clifton Forge, died Friday, October 6, 2017 at his residence.

He was born January 24, 1937 in Clifton Forge to the late Leonidas Payne Sr. and Betty Hayslett Payne.

He was a retired furniture upholsterer, a member of the Church of Christ of Covington and loved hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Johnson Payne; a sister, Mary Catherine "Kaki" Higgins; and a number of sisters and brothers-in-law, along with three nieces, who were his caregivers, Rita Higgins, Lisa Morris and Terri Perkins.

A private graveside service will be held with Minister Ken Goodmiller officiating. Friends may call and visit any time at the residence of 9576 Deerfield Road, Millboro, Virginia.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 and the American Heart Association, 2212 Dressler Drive, Covington Virginia 24426.
