Frances Woodson Henson, 91, of Buena Vista, Virginia, entered her heavenly home on Oct. 17, 2017 from Shenandoah Valley Health and Rehab, where she was there for a few days.

She was born Aug. 29, 1926 to Jake Wilbur and Lucy Jenkins Woodson, who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, O. Melvin Henson; a daughter, Heldia Iriene; a brother, Charles M. Woodson; and a sister, Mary Woodson Spence.

She attended the Stone Church of the Brethren, and was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church. Frances was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Buena Vista Fire Department.

Left to cherish her memory are sons, Melvin E. Henson of Buena Vista and Gerald W. Henson of Natural Bridge; three grandchildren, Chris, Timmy and Roseanna; and four great-grandchildren; a very special niece, Diane Davis of Chester; numerous nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors; and her fur baby, Doodle.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Victor Norris and the Rev. Mark Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
