Obituary for George Gordon Brinkley, Jr. George Gordon Brinkley, Jr.
Covington Native Was Columbia Gas Retiree

George Gordon Brinkley, Jr., 87, widower of Margaret Campbell Brinkley of Staunton, Virginia, died Monday, October 23, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Brinkley was born on June 2, 1930 in Covington, Virginia, to the late George Gordon Brinkley, Sr. and Amy Catherine (Brown) Brinkley.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He retired as a district service supervisor with Columbia Gas with 38 years of service.

Surviving family members include three sons, Jeffrey A. Quinlin (Ellen) of Staunton, George G. Brinkley III (Debbie) of Churchville, Wallace S. Brinkley (Debbie) of Smithfield, VA; one daughter, Amy M. Brinkley of Staunton; one sister, Phyllis B. Kratz of Fripp Island, SC; grandchildren, Christopher Scott Quinlin, Katherine Danielle Quinlin, George G. Brinkley, IV, Kimberley Dawn Campbell, Tiffany Nicole Godley, Kelly Marie Bailey, Jennifer Barbosa; great-grandchildren, Katie Leigh Helmick, Landon Gordon Brinkley, Eva Grace Deel, Sophia Barbosa, Sierra Brooke Campbell and Dustin Allen Campbell.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Lee, Donald Scott, Henry Webster, and Robert Franklin Brinkley and one sister, Catherine Louise Hanson.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017 by Pastor David George at Woodland Union Church Cemetery, 347 McClung Drive, Millboro, VA.

Family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home.
