Obituary for Virginia Ella Rexrode Virginia Ella Rexrode
West Virginia Native Was Blue Grass United Methodist Church Member

Virginia Ella Rexrode, 92, of Swoope, Virginia, and formerly of Blue Grass, passed away at the home of her daughter on Thursday, November 2, 2017.

She was born May 23, 1925 in Cherry Grove, W.Va., the daughter of Waitman and Geneva (Wimer) Bennett.

On October 16, 1944 she married William "Junior" Clyde Rexrode, who after 67 years of marriage, preceded her in death on February 19, 2012.

Mrs. Rexrode was a homemaker, a member of the Blue Grass United Methodist Church and Blue Grass Ruritan Club. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook especially known for her German chocolate cakes, potato salad and lemon meringue pie. She always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Connie Poats, on December 30, 2010.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Wayne Teter; two grandsons, Tim Teter, William "Chad" Teter and wife, Dixie; four great-grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Jason and Lori Teter, all of Swoope; brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Ruby Bennett of Staunton; sister, Irene Lantz of Cherry Grove, W.Va., as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Monday, November 6 at 2 p.m. at Blue Grass United Methodist Church with the Rev. Andre Crummett officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 5, 4-6 p.m. at Obaugh Funeral Home, as well as one hour prior to the service at Blue Grass United Methodist Church.

Active pallbearers will be Don and Lyle Sprouse, Jason and Ethan Teter, Park Joy and Jeff Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be family attending the service.
