In 1959, Mike married his high school sweetheart, Janet Kay Hodge. They resided in Pennsylvania, where Mike worked as a research engineer for 30 years with Rohm and Haas Chemical Company. After retiring, they moved to Colorado where they enjoyed skiing, hiking and frequent travel. Over the last 12 years, they resided in Lexington.

In addition to spending time on the golf course, Mike was an avid reader, dog lover and antique collector. He was a founding member and leader of the Association of Coffee Mill Enthusiasts (ACME) club. He authored books on coffee mills and vintage ski collectibles. Mike was also a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club, where he served as balloon festival chairman and president over the years. Dr. White was passionate about his position as a chemistry teacher at the Jackson River Governor’s School and as an adjunct professor at DSLCC. He also had tutored at VMI and participated in the Junior Achievement program.

Mike was predeceased by his brother, Kelly White, of Chico, Calif., and his grandson, Austin White, of Boston, Mass.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Janet; his son, Derek and wife Carolyn of Newtown, PA.; son Daniel of Lancaster, PA.; and daughter Debra Krupa and husband Greg of Ringoes, NJ. He also leaves behind his sister, Molly Benkert and husband Dan of Rapid City, SD; sister-in-law, Becky White; grandchildren, Madison, Logan, Zoee, Morgan, Heather and Nicholas; nieces; cousins; and his devoted dog, CJ.

A drop-in memorial service to celebrate Mike’s life for friends, family or people whose lives he touched will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on December 1 at his place of residence.
