Anderson Construction Retiree

Elwood Lee Noel, 73, of Glasgow, VA, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.

Born on May 10, 1944 in Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late Bertrand Lee Noel and Mary Jane Clark Noel. In addition to his parents, he joins three sisters, Linda Louise Carter, Edna Jane Carter, and Frances Marie Antalek, and a nephew, Robert Edward Benton, in Heaven.

He is survived by three daughters, Dana Carol Bishop (Jamsie) of Buena Vista, Rebecca Lynn Taylor (Jesse) of Stuarts Draft, and Tammy Gail Chambers (Mark) of Stuarts Draft; son, Kevin Eugene Herring (Sharon) of Buena Vista; sister, Judy Skeens (Roger) of Tappahannock; brother, Jimmy Noel (Mary) of Richmond; eight grandchildren: Matt Lee Noel, Deidra Lee Herring, Cody Scott Swisher, Joshua Allen Humphries, Jenna Carolann Noel-Ratcliffe, Lucas Quiggley Giese, Taylor Lee Swisher, and Olivia Leyton Quiggley; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; longtime friend and ex-wife, Bernice Noel; roommate, Rusty Wallace; and his loving dog, Kojak.

Ellwood performed construction, steel, and carpentry work during his working years. He retired from Anderson Construction in Lynchburg in 2005. He was a carefree spirit. His loves were the mountains, bluegrass music, western movies, playing the tub, pitching horse shoes and his family. He will always be remembered for those “dancing feet.” Dad will be greatly missed by all.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017, at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home in Buena Vista.

A Celebration of Life will be held at noon Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the funeral home. There will be no graveside service. After the service, the family welcomes friends and family at Ellwood’s residence in Glasgow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice in Ellwood’s memory.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
