Boiler Fireman In The Power House Of The Homestead Resort

Joseph Nelson Lindsay, 63, of Hot Springs, VA, died Monday, November 13, 2017 at his residence.

He was born January 3, 1954 in Bath County, VA, the son of the late Howard Nelson Lindsay and Mary Alice Pritt Lindsay Hanks.

He was employed as boiler fireman in the Power House of the Homestead Resort.

Joe was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed farming and riding motorcycles. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and caring for his mother. He was a member of Eden Methodist and attended Life Line Ministries. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Hanks, of Covington, VA; his wife, Cynthia Yvonne Lester Lindsay, of 40 years whom he married on March 26, 1977; two children, Brandy Nichole Lindsay, of Covington, Cherie Jo Lindsay-Warner & special friend Gary Goode, of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Ariel Arbogast, Logan McCoy, Karrigan Black, Cassidy Mathaney, Aidric Aiden Meadows, Zayden “Little Joe” Joseph Meadows; two great-grandchildren, Jax Dean Arbogast, Jace Arbogast; a brother-in-law, Tom Duncan, of Yorktown; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald Lee & Linda Altizer, Michael & Kathy Lester, Butch & Barbara Lester, Steve & Melissa Brinkley, Wayne & Jenny Brinkley, Jr.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Sam Duncan and brother, Phillip Lindsay.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2017 at Life Line Ministries with Pastor Zach Royer and assisted by Pastor Donald Lee Altizer officiating. Interment will be in Jones Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joey Altizer, Donnie Altizer, Matthew Altizer, Logan McCoy, Johnny Altizer, Eli Altizer and Gary Goode. Honorary Pallbearer will be “Little Tom” Pritt.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church.
