Obituary for Marshall Donald Paitsel Marshall Donald Paitsel
Former Chief Clerk At CSX Also Owned Covington Restaurants

Mr. Marshall Donald Paitsel, age 85, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Highland House, Clifton Forge.

He was the husband of the late Helen Plott Paitsel.

Mr. Paitsel was born September 24, 1932 in Lignite, Botetourt County, the son of the late Marshall James Paitsel and Ruby Odell Taylor Paitsel.

He was employed as a Chief Clerk for CSX in both Clifton Forge and Covington Rail Yards.

Mr. Paitsel was also the former owner and operator of the Oasis Restaurant on Main Street and Royal Restaurant on Magazine Street.

He was a member of the Covington Moose Lodge #610 L.O.O.M for 60 plus years and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks Union, and served as president.

Mr. Paitsel is survived by three sons, Robert Lee Paitsel and wife, Cindy, James Richard Paitsel and wife, Rhonda and Michael Dale Paitsel and wife, Tammy; one daughter, Dreama Sue Paitsel Swink, all of Covington; six grandchildren, Brian Paitsel of Greensboro, NC, Chad Paitsel of Dubai, Justin Paitsel of Greensboro, NC, Scott Paitsel, Tiffany Paitsel and Adam Swink, all of Covington; three great grandchildren, Sierra Proffitt, Brooklyn Workman, Brantley Paitsel, all of Covington; and one brother, William Zane Paitsel of Keyser, WV.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Paitsel was preceded in death by two sons, David Allan Paitsel in 1973 and Donald Wayne Paitsel in 2002; one grandson, Todd Anthony Paitsel in 1981; and one brother, J.D. Paitsel.

Mr. Paitsel requested that there be no formal services, however, the family will receive friends at the family home in Falling Springs, 308 Friels Drive, on Sunday, December 10, 2017, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 9 East Church Ave., Roanoke, VA 24011, Falling Springs Fire and Rescue, 305 Friels Drive, P. O. Box 880, Covington, VA 24426, or Mountain Regional Hospice, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
