U. S. Marine Veteran Was Clifton Forge Native

Harry Anthony (Jap) Johnson of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at his home.

He born January 23, 1949 in Clifton Forge to the late Carl T. Johnson and Alberta Burks Johnson.

Mr. Johnson served in the United States Marines.

He retired from CSX Railroad as a trackman and was member of the Concerned Christian Baptist Church.

He survived by a daughter Robin Johnson of Odenton MD., two brothers, Carl E. Johnson and his wife, Camella and Robert "Flattop" Johnson and his wife, Glendora; three sisters, Marian Gabriel and her husband, Samuel of Atlantic City, N.J.; Emily Quarles of Iron Gate and Polly Hunter and her husband, Russell of Covington, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated.

A home going service will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. William O. Hickman officiating, assisted by the Rev. Matthew T. Barnette.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Wednesday.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, is in charge of arrangements.
