Obituary for Willard Sherrock Donovan, Jr. Willard Sherrock Donovan, Jr.
Low Moor Native Was Bennett Saw Mill Retiree

Willard Sherrock Donovan, Jr., age 69, of 600 Commerce Avenue, Iron Gate, Virginia, died Monday, January 1, 2018 at his residence.

He was born July 3, 1948 in Low Moor to the late Willard Sherrock Donovan, Sr. and Clelia Kitt Donovan.

He was retired from Bennett Saw Mill, where he worked in the planning mill.

He loved hunting and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Chaplin.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Lovejoy Donovan of Iron Gate; a daughter, Melissa Lorraine Cary of Clifton Forge; three sons, Willard Lewis Donovan and wife, Melissa of Maryland, Willie W. Lovejoy of Iron Gate, and Roy W Lovejoy, Jr. of Newport News; three sisters, Betty Loan of Clifton Forge, Celia Reynolds of Clifton Forge, and Gail Brookman of Covington; twelve grandchildren, including Brett Cary, Makayla Cary, Paige Donovan, Sara Donovan, and Savanna Fitzgerald; two great grandchildren, Carson Raether and Remington Cary; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Steve and Becky Vess.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Doug Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Steve Vess, William Cary, Willie Lovejoy, Junior Perry, Danny Hague, Jamie Broughman, Russell Loan, and Tony Ryder. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests in lieu of gifts of flowers or food for the family, please donate to the area food pantry.
