Obituary for Ira & Ruby Wiley Ira & Ruby Wiley
Ira Was A World War II Veteran; Ruby Was Receptionist, Library Employee

Ira Edward Wiley, 91, and Ruby Knick Wiley, 90, of 462 East Dolly Ann Drive, Covington, Virginia died in Lewis Gale Medical Center at Salem.

Ed died Monday, January 8, 2018 and Ruby died Tuesday, January 9, 2018.

Ed was born June 6, 1926 in Bath County, a son of the late Oscar and Clara Wolfe Wiley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Wiley.

He was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Navy.

He retired from Pronto Press and was part owner of General Printing.

He was a member and former Deacon of Covington Baptist Church.

Ed was an avid bowler and longtime fan of the Wood Brothers #21 NASCAR racing team.

Ruby was born November 25, 1927 in Covington, a daughter of the late William and Hattie Irvine Knick.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Wiley.

She was employed as a receptionist at Dr. Beachem's office and retired from the Charles Pinckney Jones Memorial Library.

She was also a member of Covington Baptist Church and enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels to area residents.

Surviving are their two sons, Kevin Wiley of Covington and Larry Wiley of Richmond; two grandsons, Jesse Wiley and Daniel Wiley, both of Richmond; a granddaughter, Terri Hoover of Clifton Forge; a great grandson, John Hoover of New Kent and a number of nieces and nephews, including Beverly Dakermandji of Roanoke.

A double funeral service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Brad Arms officiating.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Arritt Funeral Home.

The family suggests that donations in Ed and Ruby's names be made to the Covington Baptist Church, 280 W. Riverside St., Covington, VA 24426 or to the Heart Association.
