James William Burrell, 68, of 1110 Richmond Street, Selma, Virginia died Wednesday January 10, 2018 in Hopewell, Virginia.

Mr. Burrell was born May 7, 1949, in Greenbrier County, WV, a son of the late Robert Lee and Ella Elizabeth Henson Burrell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Lee Burrell and a brother-in-law, Buford Bennett.

He was a former member of the Virginia National Guard.

He retired in 2009 as a brakeman/conductor with CSX Railroad.

Surviving are his daughter, Stephanie Paytas, of Charleston, WV; his brother, Robert Burrell of Covington; his sister, Arlene Bennett of Hopewell and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby McClintic officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at Arritt Funeral Home.

Entombment will be made in the Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Hopewell on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Arrangements by Arritt Funeral Home.
