Smyth County Native Dies At Age 94

Nellie Ann Hall Sarver, 94, of Ronceverte, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at The Brier Nursing Home.

Nellie was born August 5, 1923 in Smyth Co., Virginia to the late Elbert Monroe and Samantha Caroline Sturdivant Hall.

Nellie was a homemaker, who loved to sew and garden and she thoroughly enjoyed watching birds.

Other than her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by a husband in 1988, Hampton Wade Sarver; son, Bill Monroe Sarver; grandson, William "Will" Patrick Hurt; sisters, Hattie Hall Hoke and Grace Hall Maupin; brothers, Emmitt, Wesley, Walker, Conley, Henry, and Adam Hall.

Surviving include daughters, Karen Sue Sarver (Charles Anderson) from New Louden, NC, Sally Brown of Ronceverte, and P. Sharnell Hurt (Mike) of Richmond, KY; sons, Pete Sarver (Pam) of White Sulphur Springs and Doug Sarver (Nancy) of Clintonville; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Pastor John Groves officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in New Lebanon Cemetery at Pickaway in Monroe County.

Friends may call one hour prior to service on Saturday at the funeral home.
