Former Whiting Jamison Employee Was Sharon Baptist Church Member

Richard Lunsford Hyler, age 92, of 528 Commercial Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

He was born May 8, 1925 in Clifton Forge to the late Charles and Mattie Elizabeth Ayers Hyler.

He was a retired fuel deliveryman for Whiting Jamison in Covington and a member of Sharon Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian M. Johnson Hyler; a daughter, Iris "Muffin" Morris; a son, Norman Lee Hyler; four brothers, Paul Hyler, Frazier T. Hyler, Charles Hyler, and Delmas Hyler; and a sister, Madeline H. Clark.

He is survived by a son, Monte Hyler and wife, Sheila of Covington; a son-in-law, Dr. Clay Morris of Valley Ridge, Covington; a grandson, Clay "C.S." Morris, Jr. and wife, Rebecca, as well as their sons, Colton and Austin, of Mosely; a special niece, Linda Thomas and husband, Rob of Frankford, WV; two sisters, Vadnia Clark of Clifton Forge and Carolyn Waldron and husband, Tom of High Springs, FL; and two brothers, Ray Hyler and wife, Rhonda of Lynn Haven, FL and Harry Hyler and wife, Janet of Mt. Crawford.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Bethel Cemetery, Eagle Rock, with Reverend Virgil Woodie officiating. Interment will immediately follow. There will be no formal visitation. Friends may call any time at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
