Obituary for Luther A. Gibson Luther A. Gibson
Strip Miner Dies At Age 67

Mr. Luther A. Gibson, age 67, of Covington, Virginia died Friday, January 19, 2018 at his residence.

He was the husband of Patricia Ann Hoskinson Gibson.

Mr. Gibson was born June 2, 1950 in Hurley, the son of the late James Lewis Gibson and Gladys Blankenship Gibson.

He was employed as a strip miner by Morris and Marshall.

Luther was of the Baptist faith.

He enjoyed the being outdoors especially hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Patricia Gibson, Mr. Gibson is survived by a son, Luther Ashley Gibson and wife, Nora; two daughters, Amanda Underwood and husband, Mitch and Abigail Sizemore and husband, Chris; eight grandchildren, Samantha Gibson, Krissy Shifflett and husband, Kory, Rachael Gibson and fiance, Rusty Allen, Savanna Underwood, Avery Underwood, Nicholas Gibson, Jordan Sizemore and Grayson Sizemore; a great grandson, Karter Shifflett; six siblings, James Gibson, Shelia Hensley, Evelyn Looney, Kathleen Bailey, Brenda Deel and Tennessee Smith; and several nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by a son, James Lewis "Jamie" Gibson and siblings, Ike Gibson, Bonnie Blankenship, Lynn Bailey, Shirley Meadows, Wanda Gibson and Nathaniel Gibson.

A visitation will be conducted Monday, January 22, 2018, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.

The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers of Mountain Regional Hospice as well as the staff of Blue Ridge Cancer Care for all of their care and support.
