David Leonard Humphries, 82, of Raphine, Virginia, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born October 12, 1935 in Buena Vista, he was the son of the late Clarence Humphries and Lelia Smith Humphries.

He was a member of Calvary Brethren Church.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Humphries Jr. and Elijah Humphries; and sister, Virginia Henson.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Staton Humphries; daughters, Ramona H. Cornmesser of Lexington and Vanessa Tomlin and husband, John of Buena Vista; son, Wayne Humphries and wife, Teri of Raphine; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Beatrice Whiteside.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 25 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Rick Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 24 at the funeral home.
