Rockbridge County Native, Longtime Farmer, Dies At Age 91

Carl Albert (Junie) Sensabaugh Jr., 91, of Lexington, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his home.

Born September 7, 1926, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Carl Albert Sensabaugh Sr. and Katrina Bell Sensabaugh.

Junie graduated from the Virginia School of the Deaf and Blind in 1947. During his life, he excelled at farming, a poultry business, gardening, caning chairs, making furniture and countless other things.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Brady, Hunter and Dick; one niece; and one great-nephew.

Surviving are his devoted family consisting of sister Catherine Sensabaugh Nicely; four nephews; two nieces; a host of great nephews and nieces; cousins; and special friend Bob Webb. Thanks to friend and caregiver Linda Abbott and the many others who assisted Junie through the years.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 27 at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with Pastor Glenn Kuhar officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 26 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Kerrs Creek Fire Department First Responders or the Talking Book Center, 1 Churchville Ave., Staunton, VA 24401.
