Obituary for William (Cookie) Kelly, Jr. William (Cookie) Kelly, Jr.
Covington Native Was Former White Sulphur Springs Fire Chief

William (Cookie) Kelly, Jr. of White Sulphur Springs, WV, passed away January 24, 2018 at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, VA, due to complications while waiting for a liver transplant.

He was born in Covington, VA, on May 29, 1967 to William Kelly, Sr. and Bonnie Kelly.

After graduating High School, he worked for Carl and Lester Williams at Williams Pennzoil, Bob Nichols at Harts Run Exxon, Valley Barn Restaurant, Correctional officer at Greenbrier County Jail, Dispatcher for Greenbrier County 911 system, but he will be most remembered as a lifetime member of White Sulphur Springs Fire Department, where he was a fire chief for several years. He was a paramedic at White Sulphur Springs and numerous other stations and ACLS instructor at the Osteopathic School in Lewisburg.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Kelly; his paternal grandparents, Sam and Nellie Kelly; and maternal grandparents, Kester and Ruth Broyles.

Survivors include his loving wife, Samantha Kelly; father and step-mother, Bill and Wilma Kelly; sister, Kathy (Mike) Callison of White Sulphur Springs; step-brother, Neil (Tina) McMillion of Birmingham, AL; step-sons, Cody (Lisa) Burgess of Marlinton, Randall Burgess of Danese, Chris (Sarah) Boggs of Frankford; step-grandchildren, Kaden and Peyton; uncles, John Kelly, and Kennith (Barbara) Broyles of Durham, NC; aunt, Shirley (Wayne) MacCartney; as well as several cousins and a large EMS and firefighting family.

Services will be held on Sunday, January, 28, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Rhema Christian Center in Fairlea with Pastor Lloyd Camp and Pastor John Kelly officiating. Burial will follow the service at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens in Lewisburg.

Friends and family will be received at Rhema Christian Center from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Pallbearers include Thomas Hayes, Matt Peltier, Derek Porter, Austin Midkiff, Adam McGuire, and Frankie Jones.

In Lieu of flowers donations to defer medical expenses may be made to Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home at 884 Jefferson Street North Lewisburg, WV 24901.
